Alexander Beskov. Sochi


F.M.Dostoievski called to build Orthodox churches in Sochi as soon as possible. In those years Dostoievski was the editor, and N.N.Mamontov - the publisher of the magazine "Grazhdanin". Publishing "The Travel Notes Around the Black Sea Region" by A.V.Vereschagin in it, they were taking up the collection "exclusively for the first Orthodox church in Sochi". Michael the Archangel's Church was built in 1874 mainly on the people's donations collected by them.

Christianity is the most widespread religion in the city but not the only one.
